17. INTERESTING AESTHETIC MOVEMENT ROUND STAND. Round top has concentric circle inlays with different wood types. Central turned shaft has elongated egg shaped hub that has four studded knobs from center and four turned and studded legs at angles. Central drop turned pendant. Decorative use of tacks and other brass shapes. This table is similar in form and style to tables made by Hunzinger. Size: 28"h x 24" dia. 38. MAGNIFICENT LARGE CARVED OAK MURPHY BED/MIRRORED SIDE BY SIDE. Side by side sits in front of bed and slides to side to allow bed to fold down. Original spring is present. Mattress is included. Side by side has three shaped mirrors. Fall front desk with carved lid and fitted interior. Three drawers, large mirrored door opens to revel adjustable shelf bookcase. Original finish. Prov. Originally the property of Admiral Robert E. Peary. Admiral Peary's son, Robert Jr., was born on this bed. According to family lore, Mrs. Peary went into labor on a particularly hot day in Washington, D.C., and in order to make her as comfortable as possible during the birth, Admiral Peary brought in blocks of ice and set them at the foot of the bed with a fan blowing across them to cool Mrs. Peary. Letter signed by Robert E. Peary III accompanies lot attesting to above facts. SIZE: 79" high x 55" wide x 30" deep. 45. OUTSTANDING SHERATON MAHOGANY FOUR POST CANOPY BED WITH FINE CARVING AND ARCHITECTURAL HEADBOARD. All four post carved identically with acanthus leaf carved section under a tapered section having draped curtain carving. Top and bottom with tapering reeded area. Each terminating in a heavy cast brass cupped caster foot. Headboard in building shape flanked by two turned columns. Side and end rails have original knobs for rope foundation. 49. SLIP DECORATED RECTANGULAR LOAF DISH. Coggle wheel rim redware with yellow slip. Three zigzag lines flanked by three other wavy lines. Size: 17"l x 11 1/2"w. CONDITION: Chips to edge, otherwise good. 9-76970 (300-500)

50. IMPORTANT PENNSYLVANIA CHIPPENDALE CHEST ON CHEST WITH OGEE FEET. Top section has removable cornice and what appears to be an old, if not, original shelf board. Top section has three over four graduated drawers flanked by fluted quarter columns. Bottom section with three graduated drawers flanked by fluted quarter columns resting on four ogee bracket feet. Original bail handled brasses throughout. Top section slides on to bottom section. Provenance: From a Maine home descended through lineage from the Newlin family of Germantown, PA. This piece has never been out of the family and appears never to have had any restoration. Nice old finish. Size: 76 3/4"h, top case 42 1/2"w x 20 3/4"d, bottom 44"w x 21 1/2" d. UNSIGNED OIL ON CANVAS OF PRESIDENT ANDREW JACKSON AND A FRAMED SET OF FOUR SILHOUETTES OF THE CASS FAMILY INCLUDING LEWIS CASS WHO WAS SECRETARY OF WAR UNDER PRESIDENT ANDREW JACKSON. 1. 19th century painting shows a middle aged Jackson in half portrait with blue coat and green collar with white ruffled shirt. Housed in a period lemon gold frame. Sight size: 13 1/2"h x 11 1/2"w. CONDITION: One small pencil point hole in background, otherwise good. 2. Four silhouettes of the Cass family, each pencil identified on base of silhouette. Each silhouette with impressed mark "Peales Museum". Pencil inscriptions identify father (Jonathan Cass), mother (Mollie Gilman), daughter (Pollie W. Cass) and son (Lewis Cass). These silhouettes are mounted on a reverse painted black and gold decorated piece of glass. Housed in a lemon gold period frame. Sight size of glass: 13"h x 19"w. Silhouette paper size: 4"h x 3 1/4"w. CONDITION: Reverse painted background has 40% loss. Back of stretcher states "From the Estate of Homer Ramsdall Qwner of Ferry Landing at Newburg and Becon before Mid-Hudson Bridge" Housed in a large decorative molded wood frame. 59. FINE MAHOGANY THREE-PART CHIPPENDALE DINING TABLE. Table is made up of two D-shaped ends that have shaped skirts and reeded and chamfered legs. 59A. OUTSTANDING AND RARE SILK NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER OF THE WORLD. World map sampler "A Map of the World Anna Jennings Fecit Nov. 24, 1785". Large sampler shows linked circular views of the eastern and western hemispheres. At each corner is a needlework spray of flowers. At top center and bottom are the title and artist framed in scrolls and flowers. The western hemisphere shows North America and South America with geographical separations including areas titled "New Britain", "Canada", "New Albion", and "New Mexico". The Eastern hemisphere has many more land divisions. An interesting addition to both hemispheres is the plotting of Capt. Cook's voyages. Referred to on the map as "Cook's Track". American needlework maps are extremely rare especially in the 18th Century. Ref: refer to Antiques Magazine June 1972, page 1017, fig. 8 for similar needlework but dated 1809. 286. INTERESTING ARTS AND CRAFTS PERIOD PAINTED MUG BY GEORGE PEARSE ENNIS. A wonderful scene of what appears to be a Maine coastline village with water, village, people and canoe. Handle incorporates scene also. Nice pastel colors. Base of mug with painted square "Salmagundi Club Ennis-1920". Ennis had his own summer school in Eastport, Maine, which this scene may depict. Provenance: Letter accompanies mug, which describes the mug as having been made for the Salmagundi Club for a special auction to raise funds to pay off the mortgage. Size: 6 1/4"h.
